On January 7, 2025, a 6.8-magnitude earthquake struck Dingri County, Shigatse, Tibet, posing a significant threat to the safety of local lives and property. In this critical moment, the nation acted promptly, and support poured in from all sectors of society, forming a wave of warmth and strength for the people in the disaster-stricken area.
On the same day, Little Kindness, Big Impact, initiated by Ms. Hong Xiaoqing, General Manager of Shanghai Jiuzhou, immediately contacted the Shanghai Blue Sky Rescue Team to design a donation plan tailored to the rescue efforts. Recognizing the challenges posed by the cold weather and high altitude, they identified a pressing need for oxygen-generating equipment to aid in treating the injured and alleviating rescuers’ altitude sickness.
By January 8, organizations such as the Shanghai Chemical Industry Association, members of Group 3 from the EMBA170 class of Peking University’s Guanghua School of Management, and Fujian Haolaiwu Food Industry Co., Ltd., extended their support. Together, they raised funds to procure:
- 10 Yuwell oxygen concentrators,
- 400 1.4L oxygen tanks,
- 30 blood pressure monitors,
- 10 pulse oximeters,
- 100 electronic thermometers, and
- 10 inflatable mattresses.
On January 9, these supplies were swiftly delivered to the frontline by the Shanghai Blue Sky Rescue Team, joining the collective effort to safeguard lives in the disaster zone.
Disasters are merciless, but love knows no bounds. The earthquake in Dingri County has touched the hearts of everyone. It is hoped that these supplies will provide tangible assistance to the rescue operations and the affected people. Little Kindness, Big Impact will continue to monitor the progress of relief efforts and post-disaster reconstruction, remaining ready to provide further support and aid as needed.
